Basic life/AD&D, supplemental life, supplemental AD&D insurance and Life Essentials Services are currently available to employees and eligible dependents. The contracted vendor for life insurance is Aetna.
- Life Essentials Services: You and your family are encouraged to take advantage of Life Essentials Services. These services include access to financial planning; free legal forms such as power of attorneys and basic wills; bereavement counseling; vision, dental, and fitness discounts, and more.
- Basic life/AD&D insurance: Colorado Springs Utilities pays for your basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment/personal loss coverage equal to 1.5 times your annual salary.
- Supplemental life insurance: You can purchase supplemental life coverage for yourself, your spouse/civil union partner or your children at the time of hire or at open enrollment for the next plan year. Evidence of Insurability may be required if not elected at the time of hire or electing coverage above the Guaranteed Issue amount.
- Supplemental AD&D/personal loss: Supplemental AD&D/personal loss insurance benefit becomes payable if you or a family member suffer from a severe accidental physical loss or death. This plan is fully paid by the employee who elects coverage, and coverage must be equal to the employee's supplemental life insurance coverage amount.
